What a marvelous article. I started to feel FOMO for Japanese autumn hues myself - and I’m from the alps and living in a place where it’s still almost summer-ish. Thank you for sharing!
This was beautifully written! I visited Japan some 20 years ago, in autumn, and I still remember all the colours. Deep violets and reds were the ones that surprised me the most! Thank you for bringing it all back, I hope to visit Japan again... in the meantime I am subscribing to your newsletter 😊
Ah thank you for your kind note! I hope you get to visit it again sometime soon ☺️ It might feel different than 20 years ago (I would not know) but still delightful I hope.
A beautiful article which really makes me more and more curious to visit Tōhoku! I am an eternal Sakura fan, but the fall season is really magical in mountainous areas. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for reading and kind comment. It means a lot. Tōhoku is truly a wonderful place and I think their tourism promotion strategy is also one of the most thoughtfully put together ones among all the regions of Japan.
I loved this article and can so relate to how you feel wanting to photograph everything! On our first trip to New Zealand, we had only 8 short days in the South Island and I took 1200 photos..and that was before digital cameras or iPhones! NZ is a magical country with glorious countryside and Japan is 10 times more than that. I was constantly thinking in pictures as well and every moment glancing around checking the light as it hit certain things then making mental notes to "get THAT shot" on the way back! people who are not interested in photography or recording events and special moments just don't 'get it'. They think they will remember all the details later on but they never do. Photos /images, like music, can take us back to a place and time, an emotion in a split second.
The one with the "god rays" :O
experiencing that kind of light was sure a moving moment.

Thank you for reading and your kind words. How I love the European Alps, having access to all that hiking must be fantastic.
It is. Our world has so many special places 🥰
